Integrity & updates

Verified checksums

Every published build ships with a SHA-256 checksum in the releases manifest so you can verify a download before you run it. Checksums are generated by the release pipeline, not by hand.

Auto updates

The desktop app is built on Tauri, which supports signed automatic updates. When builds open up, LynxDock will update itself safely in the background — no background services camping when you're not using it.

Release philosophy

Stable releases

Thoroughly tested builds recommended for everyday use once LynxDock reaches general availability.

Preview builds

Early access to upcoming features for people who want to help shape LynxDock before stable.

Nightly builds

Bleeding-edge automated builds for testing the very latest changes - expect rough edges.

Security updates

Fixes for security issues shipped promptly across supported channels.

Long-term support

A future LTS track for teams that value stability over the newest features.

Installation philosophy

Fast installs

Small, quick downloads that get you running in moments.

No unnecessary background services

LynxDock runs when you use it - it doesn't quietly camp in the background.

Easy updates

Straightforward, predictable updates with no drama.

Portable where practical

Portable builds where the platform allows, so you can run without installing.

Privacy first

No telemetry required to use the app. Your data stays yours.

Frequently asked questions

When will downloads be available?

LynxDock is in active development. Public downloads open in phases - private beta first, then public beta, then a stable 1.0. Follow the roadmap and GitHub for timing.

Will LynxDock be open source?

Development happens in the open on the LynxDock GitHub organization. Licensing details for each component will be published alongside the builds.

Will there be portable builds?

Where a platform allows it, yes - portable builds are part of the installation philosophy so you can run LynxDock without a full install.

Will there be Linux packages?

Linux is a first-class target. Expect common formats such as AppImage and distribution packages as builds mature.

Will there be Docker images?

Self-hosted servers are designed to run well in containers, so official images are planned for the server side.
